Review of the Lelo Ida Wave!

If you have ever shopped in our boutique, you will often hear me refer to Lelo as the "Cadillac of toys." They have a cult following, and for good reasons. They offer a top-notch warranty on all of their products—nearly a decade, to be exact. They are trailblazers in the industry when it comes to coming out with new and innovative adult toys. Lelo was one of the very, very few high-end, top-tier toy companies out there ten years ago when I first started working in the adult toy industry. Granted, in those ten years, a lot of new companies have emerged, carved their own paths, and made names for themselves. But ten years later, Lelo is still a household name or at least a well-known "bedroom" name.

Why Go With Lelo?

I have tried my fair share of Lelo Toys, including, but not limited to, The Lelo Sila and Sona, the Lelo Ina Wave, The Lelo Tiani, and, most recently, the Lelo Ida Wave. As someone who likes to be very transparent when purchasing something for pleasure, I will say openly and honestly that not every Lelo toy I have tried has been a winner in my book. That being said, it's also important to remember that not every person is the same; not everyone has the same erogenous zones or derives pleasure from the same pressure, intensity, etc. Not to mention that not all toys are going to be anatomy specific to you. Trial and error when searching for that perfect toy is just part of the process, and honestly, the process could be worse! One thing that I appreciate about Lelo across the board is that, for the most part, nearly all of their toys are virtually silent, which is a must if you are in a dorm, have a roommate, children or do not want to be turned off by the incessant buzzing of a loud vibrator.

In my opinion, Lelo toys are an excellent option for both beginners and experts. While many toy brands present their toys with a high first speed, Lelo has a great range of speeds, which makes them great for beginners. Typically if you are shopping around for your first adult toy, we recommend a toy that doesn't have a wide range of intensity levels. Lelo always starts at a more toned-down intensity and goes up from there. Compared to many other toy companies with a wide range of speed levels, even level one tends to be too much.

My Thoughts on the Ida Wave

The Lelo Ida Wave is a game-changer in my collection. At first glance, I thought it was a couple's toy meant to be worn during sex. However, it syncs up with the Lelo app, allowing you to control the toy from the privacy of your mobile phone. That may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I will say there is something very evocative and intriguing about the idea of having this little cutie inside your vagina and on your Clitoris while someone else has complete control of how it operates. I like to refer to this option as "foreplay." So technically, although only one person receives the physical pleasure from the Ida Wave, it does not mean it cannot be used with a partner. However, this is a Me, Myself, and I toy, and I prefer it that way.

So, when doing research on this toy, there was something about it that stood out to me, and that was that the internal piece is meant to mimic the feeling of fingering with a rounded disc-like shaped portion that sits on top of the Clitoris, giving you constant stimulation. Immediately I thought, "Sign me up." The Ida Wave has two separate motors, one for the G-spot and one for the Clitoris. While they cannot be controlled independently, it beats having one motor powering the entire toy and not getting the full vibration depth to both erogenous zones simultaneously and equally.

Ida Wave's Unique Design

I obviously had to go with the little orange color, and I am thrilled with that decision; it is even prettier in person. So once I had the actual toy in my hands to look at, feel, turn off and on, and feel the intensity levels, I noticed that the internal part is shaped uniquely. It is not entirely rounded; right in the middle of the inner piece is a dip, which I later realized is absolutely perfect for putting lubricant into without as much mess. But when using it for the first time, I realized that it had a whole different purpose, or at least it did for me. That little divet, if you will, works in a scooping-like motion while rotating inside the vagina. I don't know what kind of little fairies Lelo has working in their factories, but that little design made the Ida much more impressive.

I typically tend to gravitate toward clitoral toys versus internal ones, but I  was more than pleasantly surprised with the sensation of the internal bit on the Ida Wave. It is a well-known opinion and, depending on the woman, a well-known fact that we tend to orgasm more effortlessly and more intensely when more than one erogenous zone is being stimulated, and the Ida Wave ticks both of those boxes. Not only is the internal rotating part good for internal stimulation, but I also found that it reached and stimulated my G-spot in a pretty fantastic way. So I thought I was purchasing a toy that would give me that constant clitoral stimulation but with a bonus of internal sensation as well if the mood strikes, but I wound up with a fantastic G-spot vibrator as well, "Bonus!" Because of how it is shaped, the scooping motion it makes while rotating inside the vagina brings the edges up and around the G-spot with the perfect amount of pressure. To all my fellow Vulva owners, if you have been hunting for a toy that helps you achieve a G-spot orgasm without all of the stretching and reaching, then look no further; I think Lelo stumbled onto something.

Lelo's App: Buzz or Bust?

Because the Lelo Ida Wave also works with an app on your phone, you can control it via the button or the app while using it. Admittedly with most toys, I tend to stick to using the button or buttons on the toy versus using the Apps, but recently I have found a new appreciation for the app. Simply because it means that while the toy is inside the vagina, doing its thing, I do not have to mess up the placement, etc., by touching the button to control the intensity, I can grab my iPhone and increase or decrease the speed by a touch of my finger. Making the app essential to the overall experience, in my opinion. One thing I found personally for me was something worth mentioning is that the disc-shaped part that sits on the Clitoris is more significant and more round than other dual stimulating toys like this, such as the We-Vibe Chorus, which allowed it to stimulate more of the Vulva unlocking sensations that other toys tend to miss.

Parting Thoughts

My final thoughts on the Ida Wave are "worth the hype." That being said, that may only be the case for some people. The price point of this particular adult toy is a little higher than others. Still, I found it was well worth the money spent, and it eases my mind to know that should anything happen to my toy down the road, I have registered the warranty, and Lelo will, as always, take care of any defects!
